Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority

The Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) is a Dubai government authority established in 2021 to oversee and integrate several of the emirate's economic zones.

DIEZ supervises Dubai Airport Freezone (DAFZ), Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) and Dubai CommerCity, creating an integrated platform for business, investment, technology, logistics and commercial activity.

DIEZ is not a conventional residential developer. Its role is broader: under Dubai legislation, it has responsibilities covering infrastructure, land and property use, construction regulation, licensing and management within the integrated economic zones.

Track record

DIEZ was formally established under Dubai Law No. 16 of 2021 and is wholly owned by the Investment Corporation of Dubai.

The authority brought together major economic zones with established histories. DAFZ was established in 1996, while Dubai Silicon Oasis was established in 2005.

Dubai Silicon Oasis itself is a master-planned community spanning approximately 7.2 million square metres and incorporating commercial, industrial, education and residential components.

As of H1 2026, DIEZ reported 96% occupancy across its three economic zones, with the number of companies operating across the zones up 13% year-on-year.

For property buyers, the most relevant part of the portfolio is particularly Dubai Silicon Oasis, where residential, commercial and lifestyle infrastructure operate alongside the technology-focused business ecosystem.

The investment proposition is therefore linked to the broader economic activity of the district rather than simply the reputation of a residential developer.

What we'd watch

The main issue is classification.

DIEZ is a government authority, not a private residential developer. Properties within its zones may be developed or operated by different entities.

Buyers should therefore identify the specific project developer before attributing DIEZ's institutional profile to the development.
